"Extraordinary Machine"
By Fiona Apple

I certainly haven't been shopping for any new shoes
-And-
I certainly haven't been spreading myself around
I still only travel by foot and by foot, it's a slow climb,
But I'm good at being uncomfortable, so
I can't stop changing all the time

I notice that my opponent is always on the go
-And-
Won't go slow, so's not to focus, and I notice
He'll hitch a ride with any guide, as long as
They go fast from whence he came
- But he's no good at being uncomfortable, so
He can't stop staying exactly the same

If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine

I seem to you to seek a new disaster every day
You deem me due to clean my view and be at peace and lay
I mean to prove I mean to move in my own way, and say,
I've been getting along for long before you came into the play

I am the baby of the family, it happens, so
- Everybody cares and wears the sheeps' clothes
While they chaperone
Curious, you looking down your nose at me, while you appease
- Courteous, to try and help - but let me set your
Mind at ease

(Chorus)

-Do I so worry you, you need to hurry to my side?
-It's very kind
But it's to no avail; I don't want the bail
I promise you, everything will be just fine

If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine

Photo fun from American College Dance Festival at Arizona State University.

Eleanor's dirty dancer feet hugging Laura's dirty dancer feet.

My new ASU dance grad friend, Emily, gettin' down!

Dance parties are way more fun with dancers!

After party at the Performing Arts Center, Arizona State University

This is why dancers rock. A 200-dancer electric slide!

Ruth, Ellie, Gloria. Three women who have changed my life.

Ellie, Laura, and Beth checking out our nose piercings.

With Beth, a favorite former teacher of mine.

Laura has been pierced......

With Kyle and Ellie just before the Gala, about 15 minutes after the piercing. Ouch.

At the Tattoo Parlor waiting for my turn.... NERVOUS

Before....

Modern Partnering class with Kim Davis.

Kyle messing around with flips like he does. And on the left, one of the most amazing dancers I have ever seen. Loyola University student. Loyola University won the Choreography and Performance Competition with their piece, "Close(r)". Incredible!

Afro-Modern class, nice and sweaty-gross. :) I'm still sore from this class. Hard. Core.

Floor windows = photo op!

Our hotel and the A for Arizona State University. We had the best hotel!

Ellie is notorious for stopping every few feet to take pictures of earth and sky on walks in new places. I love that girl.

Kyle is King.

Ellie is sporting Gloria's handy work. Gloria (or "Glorita", as she is better known around her old dance friends) has her own business called "Mornin'Glorias". She sells handmade beaded flowers as rings, clips, necklaces, headbands, etc.. On Etsy.com, facebook, and a few other places. She's awesome! She made us tiny little 4-leaf clover clips for St. Patrick's Day (which is also Ellie's Birthday).

Ellie was hiding, but I found her.

And she, in turn, attacked me with her leg.

Ellie's Birthday Giggle Photo Shoot

My other family. We all love each other.

Something was apparently unpleasant...

Kyle has a cool way to open bottles!

Our very own Arlecchino (Commedia Dell'Arte archetype) playing cards.

Birthday toast!

Cool statue at the Galvin Performing Arts Center, ASU

Awesome Architecture at ASU and surrounding area. Wish I had photographed more buildings.

BETH!!!!!! Our former Modern and ballet teacher at Fresno City College! She teaches at Moorpark college now. We were so happy to see her at the festival!!!!

Eleanor MATCHED the tree. Of Course!

And Kyle is a monkey.

"Do a happy dance, guys! We're about to go to ACDF Registration!"
And they did. :)

Ride from the airport. Can you tell I'm anxious to get there?

On the plane. WEEEEEE CAAAAAAAAN'T WAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!

Before we left, Molly and I went to see "The Producers" at Roger Rocka's in the Tower District. Great show!
